Northern Cardinal

Northern Cardinal

It’s one of America’s favorites — and no fewer than seven states have made that official, naming the Northern Cardinal as their state bird. The male brightens yards, parks, and woodlands with its flare of crimson feathers; the warm browns of the female are marked with reddish accents.

When you adopt a Northern Cardinal, you support Audubon’s conservation work to protect birds and the places they need. You’ll receive:

  • A lifelike plush male Northern Cardinal that plays a recording of its song when squeezed
  • Adoption certificate and personalized letter from the National Audubon Society
